Case Study: Hat Trick Productions

Hat Trick Productions

Hat Trick Productions

Production Company

Hat Trick Productions is one of the UK’s most successful independent production companies producing popular and award-winning programming, light entertainment, comedy, drama and digital media.

They were looking for a flexible solution that could replace Symantec BackupExec. BackupExec at the time was incompatible with Exchange 2010, Hat Trick were given completion dates by Symantec for when support for Exchange 2010 would become available, but those deadlines were missed.

Challenge

Ermin’s initial concern was backing up their Exchange server, “Additional features such as Email Archiving became a very useful tool.

“The flexibility of using our own storage in our datacentre made it a very cost effective solution. Once the infrastructure was in place, working with Backup Systems to get all our servers backed up and replicated was painless.”

Solution

Backup Systems firstly provided  a demo unit illustrating our product. Once approved, using their own hardware, an initial seeding process began on Hat Trick’s site to backup up all of their  data.

Once complete, a copy of their data was relocated to their datacentre, where over a secure tunnel, incremental backups would continue to be deployed. An additional server was placed there, whereby in a DR scenario, we could fire up a VM of a failed server in our co-lo whilst a solution was sourced.

Results

"Backup Systems continue to develop their product in conjunction with our changing infrastructure. As our requirements change, Mark has always strived to develop a means in which to make that data secure. A customer now of 4 years, we're very pleased with the service and confident of the safekeeping of our data."
