What disaster recovery architectures are available?
Technology :: Disaster Recovery
In addition to the on-site backup you will also want to replicate your data off-site to another location. In the event of fire, flood, theft or some other disaster your data will still be available. There are a number of options available, what you choose will depend on your organizational need.
Off-site to our data center: If you have only one site, we recommend replicating your data to a server in our data center. You can download files from our server via our web portal. In the event of a disaster we will supply you with your data on an appliance. You do not need to replicate all the data to our server, you can pick and choose, so that only essential data is replicated to us - thereby keeping costs down.
Cross-site to one of your other sites: If you have two or more sites, an ideal configuration is to replicate site A to site B and vice versa. In this scenario no data is held with us. Of course it is possible to cross-site and replicate select data to us.
If you have multiple sites more complex configurations are possible, for example remote sites feeding data to a central parent site. It is also possible to run virtual instances of the backup system, however beware of compromising hardware redundancy.
